Introducing the NEW batten splice

A lightweight, low profile, affordable and mobile alternative to long full compression battens. Using a durable thermoplastic housing, the RBS Batten Splice allows for manageable mobility without sacrificing performance and structural integrity.

The specially engineered spliced taper allows for a continuous material thickness throughout the batten length to maintain traditional bend characteristics while not creating a hard spot in the sail. Decreasing the overall batten length by up to 40% allows storage, shipping and mobility otherwise unattainable with full length battens.

We are proud to announce that we are providing all of the battens for the Volvo Formula 40 Catamarans. We are also providing battens for many of the Volvo Ocean Race Syndicates ready to set sail around the world later this year on what is shaping up to be another exciting race!
Summer is quickly approaching and it’s time to get back out on the water for most of us Northern Hemisphere folks. Make sure all of your equipment and sails are up to par and not weighing you down. Happy Holidays from RBS Battens!
2007 is coming to an end with some very exciting winter races to kick off 2008!
The focus being mainly on Southern Florida for the month of January which will include the 2008 Acura Key West Race Week , The Bacardi Cup in Miami as well as much more.
Best of luck to all the participants and if you need to replace or stock up on battens make sure to contact your sail maker in time.
For all of you cruising in the nice warm weather…..just remember all of us up here in the colder climates and remember how lucky you are!

So, Summer is slowly drawing to a close and for all of you who are planning on heading south for the cold months make sure to check all of your equipment and make sure everything is in good shape.

The 2007 Moore 24 Nationals will be taking place right here in our own backyard this weekend……literally!
Hood River, OR will be hosting the event in what’s expected to be good wind….and when there’s good wind in the Gorge it can be challenging for anybody!
All of us at RBS would like to wish everybody good luck and hope for a fun/exciting/safe race.

The 2007 Columbia Gorge One Design Regatta is all set to kick off! We are proud to have this power packed regatta being hosted by the CGRA in our own back yard, the exciting and always challenging Columbia River Gorge! The regatta will include the following classes:
505, J-24, Melges 24, Laser as well as the Vanguard 15 Pacific Coast Championship and the Tasar US National Championship. For more info go to www.cgra.org.

Spring is finally here!

Results are in!

RBS would like to congratulate the Fiat Team (Michael Coxon, Aaron Links, Nathan Ellis) for winning the JJ Giltinan International 18ft. Skiff Championship in Sydney along with Howard Hamlin and Pegasus Racing taking 5th place as well as Euan McNicol and Club Marine taking 7th all powered by RBS Battens!

The J.J. Giltinan International Championship for the I-18 Skiff class is all set to start on Friday, February 16th running through Sunday, February 25th in Sydney. The event is being hosted by the Australian 18 Footers League and will feature 7 boats equipped with RBS Battens. Keep up with all of the results and reports for the races at www.18footers.com.au.

Howard Hamlin voted "Sailor of the Month!"

RBS would like to congratulate Howard Hamlin on being voted as the Seahorse “Sailor of the Month” and would like to thank everyone who voted!
We also understand that Euan McNicol along with his I-18 team have taken the first race of the I-18 series in Sydney last weekend winning by twenty three minutes over second place in a southerly that was blowing over 40 in puffs. Euan said “it was the fastest I have ever gone”. (thanks to Jay Glaser for keeping us updated)

Take a look through our new website to find all the information on RBS Battens that you are looking for! Whether you are looking for a recommendation on what battens to use for your sail to finding a sail maker or distributor in your area, our website can help you out.

The newest addition to the site is the “RBS Boat Finder” which is found in the Find Your Boat section of the site. This new feature allows you to search for your boat alphabetically and view the recommended set of battens for your sail. Presently the list is only completed from A to D however we will be completing the list shortly and constantly adding to it with new boats.

Another new addition is the “RBS Sail Maker/Distributor Search”. to help you find a certified RBS sail maker or distributor in your area, all you have to do is click the map at the bottom right of the page, this will bring up another page that will give you the option of searching your region alphabetically or just simply click your region on the world map to view all the listings.

Along with these new features the site also includes everything from basic to technical information from construction of our battens to our end fitting and tensioning system. You may also read up on our batten conversion chart to compare our battens to our competitors.
